Here’s a very simple method of creating a non-skid finish that is easy to clean. It’s also easy to remove and re-apply.

I learned this method from the skipper of the schooner Alcyon, Sugar Flanigan.

He used it on the painted cabin tops of the schooner and I was really impressed with how efffective and subtle it was.

Most Non-skid finishes involve adding aggregates such as sand or walnut shells to the finish. The latter, while fine under-boot, is distinctly painful under-foot. Also it will collect all manner of muck.
